Profile - Jack Holmes
Jack was born and raised in Keighley, West Yorkshire. He is retired and now lives in Birmingham. In the past he was an engineer, served in the Royal Air Force, was a long-distance driver, a bus driver and ran a small signwriting business. Jack, who is a totally self-taught artist, paints in oils, mostly on stretched canvas panels. He likes to paint nostalgia and produces digital reproductions of his work which he signs, numbers and mounts.
He has exhibited in Ilkley and Haworth and has sold his work at both venues. Colne-based Northern Life magazine have published his work on three occasions. Two of his large pictures, depicting Birmingham industry, hang in the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. John has paintings on show at the Picturesque Gallery in Silsden, West Yorkshire.
Jack paints a lot for charity auctions and has recently raised money for the British Legion and Manorlands. The Midland Hotel in Morecambe is planning to auction two of his paintings for charity in the near future.
